AGENDA

Thursday
Depart for Italy
With anticipation, we look forward to our arrival in Italy.
Friday
Arrive in Florence
Your first encounter with Italian art will be the Tuscan landscape itself, as the morning mist enfolds the hills and valleys in its dreamy spell. Ancient cities, perched precariously on hilltops, provide travelers with their first glimpse into the history of this beautiful country.
Saturday - Sunday
Florence, Italy
Once we arrive in Florence, inspiration is everywhere: from the warm yellows and oranges of the Ponte Vecchio reflected in the Arno to the majestic Duomo to museums that house some of the greatest painting and sculptural accomplishments of western civilization.
Monday
Depart for Castiglione
del Lago
But Florence is more than a view into masterpieces of past. The city’s artistic tradition continues today. Each morning artists gather in the great outdoor halls for another day of hard work. Some paint on canvas. Others create works of art in chalk on the sidewalk, their masterpieces wiped away within days by the feet of travelers.
Tuesday - Saturday
Painting on Location
Inspired by the sites, smells, and tastes of Tuscany, we will travel to Umbria to create our own masterpieces. Known as "the green heart of Italy", Umbria is an ideal location for painting. The region's winding roads climb the hillsides and provide breathtaking views of the valleys, olive groves, vineyards, and farmhouses below.
Sunday
Rest, Relax, Play
Here, in the medieval towns of Castiglione del Lago and Citta della Pieve, students will find further inspiration in the art of the city’s most famous son, “Il Perugino”, a world-renowned Renaissance artist and mentor to Raphael. His work can still be found on the walls of the humble, but beautiful church in the city center.
